theACS
If you have been involved in an auto accident, The Accident Concussion Scale (theACS™) may be important for you. The ACS is a 16-item self-administered questionnaire that combines an accident patient’s report of 6 injury events and 10 common postconcussional symptoms into a total ACS score, with separate indexes for injury characteristics and symptoms.
The ACS is NOT a concussion diagnosis test. It does not determine who has had a concussion, only who is LIKELY to show impaired cognitive scores on subsequent neuropsychological tests. As such, it provides an excellent first step in deciding who needs more assessment.
